We seem to be getting lots of sales and enquires for High Temperature Silicones recently. The only thing i can put it down to is the cold weather.
People getting their wood burners going etc....
We sell a couple of products in the high temperature silicone dept:
1) Silirub HT-N (Best seller!) Up to 285C - Black
2) Ottoseal S17 (Neutral Cure) Up to 285C - Red Brown
3) Ottoseal S25 (Acetoxy Cure) Up to 300C - Red Brown
If the temperature resistance need is higher, silicone is not the answer! If exposed to temperatures outside of it's parameters it will melt!.
For a higher service temperature a cement (Fire Cement) based product is required. They are very different in their make up and can not do similar jobs. For example: Silicones remain flexible after curing, whereas cement based products cure to very hard finish. Thus making them not suitable for joints where there is some movement.
