High Temperature Silicones

We seem to be getting lots of sales and enquires for High Temperature Silicones recently. The only thing i can put it down to is the cold weather.

People getting their wood burners going etc....

We sell a couple of products in the high temperature silicone dept:

1) Silirub HT-N (Best seller!) Up to 285C - Black

2) Ottoseal S17 (Neutral Cure) Up to 285C - Red Brown

3) Ottoseal S25 (Acetoxy Cure) Up to 300C - Red Brown

If the temperature resistance need is higher, silicone is not the answer! If exposed to temperatures outside of it's parameters it will melt!.

For a higher service temperature a cement (Fire Cement) based product is required. They are very different in their make up and can not do similar jobs. For example: Silicones remain flexible after curing, whereas cement based products cure to very hard finish. Thus making them not suitable for joints where there is some movement.

Stainless Steel Prices on the up! ukstainless

The price of stainless steel is going pretty crazy at the moment. It's really having an effect on the cost prices on Stainless Steel Fixings. We at UKsealants and at UKstainless are trying to keep a close eye on the prices and keep the projected price rises to a minimum.

This is what metal markets have to say about it:

Nickel was up $635 to $27,285 per tonne after going as high as $27,590 per tonne on the news that a magnitude 5.0 to 5.2 earthquake had temporarily closed mines in the Kalgoorlie region of Western Australia.

It was characterized as the biggest temblor in fifty years in the gold and nickel mining region.

Payment Issues with Sagepay

I think it's fair to say that it's not been the best couple of days for our payment gateway provider, Sagepay. With a fire in a Padington BT Exchange knocking out payments for a time and yesterday the retrieval of historical data took much longer than it should have done. All in all, very disappointing. High Temperature Silicone Sealants from UKsealants

UKsealants - Wesite Update

Friday the 15th of Jan saw UKsealants have a professional photographer (Tobias Kieser) come into the office and take more than 650 photos of our products.

We would like to take this opportunity to extend our thanks to him and his assistant for their hard work.

The new images will be uploaded to the website over the next week. We are confident that these new images will provide the customer with a better view and understanding of the product.

I think what we are trying to do is to add to the user experience, and whilst we can't replace the touch and feel of the product, by adding the higher quality images we are taking a step in the right direction.

UKsealants. Delivery update.

The Snow! The Snow!

Uksealants are based in Norwich, Norfolk and up until today have escaped the terrible weather conditions suffered by most of the country. We have escaped no more! 6 inches of snow last night and only 50% of staff in the office this morning.

We send our packages by either Royal Mail or by UPS. UPS are struggling with some deliveries, especially the ones in rural areas, so if you are waiting on a delivery please be patient, it's on it's way.

2010! Can hardly believe it. What a fantastic start to the new year we've had. Tons of sales over the holidays. Lots and lots of Tremco Expanding foam, with the gun grade version outselling the handheld by about 5 boxes to 1. Sales of the Tremco Maxx Expanding Foam went very well, infact so well that we're out of stock.!

The best seller over the Christmas break was, in fact the High Temperature Sealant, Silirub HT-N. This sold in it's hundreds. Thanks to all who bought it.
